What is a WorldExpander?

The learning doesn’t stay on the page

A printable learning journal that your child turns into a museum about one subject.

The learning doesn’t stay on the page

Once your child knows what wild clay looks like, why desert animals conserve water, or what a soldier carried, ordinary walks, trips, and objects begin to mean something new.

That’s what makes it a WorldExpander: it expands the world your child knows how to see.

Made by real families

Every finished journal looks different, because every child curates their own museum. WorldExpanders is brand new — the Ancestral Puebloans journal is the first of eighteen. Every photo on this site is a real build. As the first families finish their museums, their builds will be the ones featured here.

Be one of the first.

We're launching with a single journal and building the collection in the open. The families who build now shape what comes next — your photos, your specimen finds, and your feedback directly influence the next eighteen journals.

Come build with us — join the WorldExpanders Journal Club on Facebook: share your builds, swap ideas, and be part of the community from day one.

Why I made WorldExpanders

Why I made WorldExpanders

Having struggled with public school work, but always having collections ranging from fossils, minerals, coins, preserved bugs and more - I created world expanders as I looked into the Montessori and other related homeschooling methodologies for my children.

Questions parents ask before buying

Quick answers about printing, ages, time and what’s in the download.

Is this a physical book or a digital download?

It’s a digital download. You get a PDF right away, print it at home, and your child cuts, folds and assembles it into a physical book. Nothing is shipped.

How much printing is required?

Each journal lists its page count, paper size and whether to print single- or double-sided on its product page. A free Wing is three sheets.

What ages is it for?

WorldExpanders are designed for ages 8 and up — kids, teens, and adult learners. Younger builders are welcome with a grown-up's help. The investigation, specimen work, and curation run deep enough to stay interesting at any age.

How much help will my child need?

Younger children will want an adult for printing, cutting and the first few exhibits. Step-by-step instructions and clear research prompts let older children work more independently.

How long does it take?

A free Wing is an afternoon build. A full journal is designed to be explored over multiple sessions.

Is it a curriculum?

It’s a complete unit-study journal for one subject. Use it on its own or alongside whatever curriculum you already use.

Where does the research come from?

Each journal includes curated books, documentaries, podcasts and museum links, plus research questions that tell your child what to look for.

Is the full journal complete without Wings?

Yes. Every journal is complete on its own. Wings are free samples, never missing chapters.

Can I use it for siblings?

Yes. Reprint pages for the children in your household as often as you like.

What supplies do I need?

A printer, ordinary paper, scissors and a glue stick. Anything your child collects along the way is a bonus.
