Genuinely surprised how much we learned. At first it was confusing as we are used to the more traditional worksheet, but once we got the hang of it and started to explore our own interests within the ancestral pueblo realm it really made for some fun projects. The yucca is a great starting point, if not a must – you get your first “artifacts” within a few minutes of following a YouTube tutorial on processing it into cordage. Lots of experiences that I feel the journal itself can only capture so much of – as the guide suggested we explored wild clay to a small extent, cooked some “Indian corn” for a lack of better terms in a normal traditional way, which was a bit like hominy, and a few other things. We’re still exploring it but it was really an influtial and engaging project for myself and children. They are still on the hunt for some shells, rocks, and macaw feathers of all things.
